Guardiola not leaving City despite allegations of financial irregularities

The Spanish tactician renewed his contract with City in November by extending his relationship until the summer of 2025.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he is not leaving despite Premier League allegations against his club and that he wants to stay “more than ever”.

The Spanish coach spoke to the press for the first time since the Premier League announced last Monday the investigation it has been conducting since March 2019 and accuses City of having committed more than a hundred financial irregularities over the past decade.

Despite this situation, which Guardiola already experienced to some extent in 2020 when they were accused by UEFA, the Sampedor boss assure that he has no plans to leave Manchester.

“I’m not leaving, I can assure you that. I want to stay more than ever. After many, many years in the Premier League, I don’t want to leave,” Guardiola told a news conference.

Pep also claimed that they seem to have already been condemned, in response to the Premier League’s accusations.

“The first thing I think is that it seems we have already been condemned…. It’s like with UEFA. We were already condemned,” the Spaniard recalled, referring to UEFA’s two-year ban from European competitions, which was lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The club proved that we were completely innocent. You know whose side I’m on,” he stressed.

“We are lucky to live in a country where everyone is innocent until proven guilty. It seems that we have already been sentenced. What will happen from now on, I don’t know. I think we have good lawyers and we will defend our position. We will see what a judge decides and what the Premier League decides,” Guardiola said.
