Shields will take on veteran Maricela Cornejo in her Detroit backyard, and after Katie Taylor’s recent defeat, a win would see her further cement herself as the pound-for-pound best in women’s boxing.
Her last fight was in October last year, when she totally outboxed Savannah Marshall in London, with a potential rematch being discussed by her beaten rival.
Cornejo most recently fought at the end of March 2023, stopping Sheila Cunha.
