The crowd went berserk as he entered the venue on the song Chola Chola from the Ponniyin Selvan Part 1. For the grant event, he took the classic route and wore a white shirt with a tailored black blazer and well-fitted trousers. He completed the look with a crisp black tie. Adding oodles of oomph to his stylish appearance was his hairstyle. Vikram flaunted his Thangalaan avatar – heavy beard and long hair tied in a man bun.

By Prachi Arya: After the super success of Ponniyin Selvan Part 1, Mani Ratnam is all set to bring out Part 2 of his magnum opus. The makers are all set to release the grand trailer of the upcoming film at an event in Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium. The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha and Jayam Ravi in lead roles along with Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Ashwin Kakumanu, Mohan Raman, Sarathkumar and Parthiban.

Ulaganagayagan Kamal Haasan presided over the star-studded event as the chief guest. Before launching the trailer, the legendary actor addressed the gathering while sharing his views of the sequel and revealed how he too wanted to be a part of the film. However, he ended up giving his voice to the same.

Talking about the same, the legendary actor said, “Thanks to all the fans who made me get on to the stage for the past years. Only Simbu will know that because he has been acting since young years. I got the opportunity to act with my talents. I have lost films too, like Ponniyin Selvan. So I gave a voice-over.”

Further, he added, “I feel jealous of seeing Mani Ratnam. We could understand how it was going to go. I got a new opportunity via AR Rahman the day before yesterday. His orchestra played songs and it was magic. I was overwhelmed and at a loss for words. Life is short and getting a chance in cinema is less. We should all celebrate the chances we get. This is not a time to be jealous.”

Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 is all set to release in theatres on April 28. Just like the first part, Ponniyin Selvan 2 will release in five languages, namely, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Composer AR Rahman, editor Sreekar Prasad and cinematographer Ravi Varman are part of the technical crew. The film is jointly produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
