Although Amazon and Microsoft dominate the cloud computing market, Google’s unit had its first profitable quarter earlier this year.

Google’s capabilities in artificial intelligence are seen as a key way the company can differentiate itself in the cloud.
SAP CEO Christian Klein indicated that the company has partnerships with other companies in the cloud, but this collaboration is certainly his favourite.
According to Kurian, this partnership will help harmonise data sets. For example, if a shop manager needs to make sure a branch is well stocked, he or she can use a chatbot built with Google Cloud tools to query the inventory of an order.

SAP and Google Cloud have announce the expansion of their partnership, which includes the launch of a comprehensive Open Data offering designed to simplify data environments and get the most out of them. The offering enables customers to build a comprehensive data cloud that brings together information from across the enterprise using the SAP Datasphere solution in conjunction with the Google Cloud. This will enable organisations to visualise their entire data set in real time and maximise the value of their SAP software and Google Cloud investments.
