The Washington Spirit and Orlando Pride will go head-to-head on Wednesday night when they play in the second game of the NWSL Challenge Cup.

On Wednesday night, the Washington Spirit and the Orlando Pride will meet for matchday two of the NWSL Challenge Cup. The Spirit comes into Wednesday’s game at the bottom of the group after losing their first game of the Challenge Cup to Gotham FC in a 1-0 defeat. Since that loss, the Spirit has gone on to play three more games with two resulting in draws and their most recent game resulting in a 3-1 victory over the San Diego Wave. Trinity Rodman struck first for the Spirit shortly after halftime and Ashley Sanchez and Paige Metayer each added a goal to extend the team’s lead to 3-0. Alex Morgan snuck a goal in during the 90th minute, but the Spirit was still able to earn three points.

The Pride is sitting just above the Spirit in the group after playing their first match of the Challenge Cup to a 1-1 draw against the North Carolina Courage. The team has gone 2-1 over its last three games with the most recent being a 1-0 win over Racing Louisville on Saturday. Messiah Bright scored the lone goal in the game at the 21-minute mark and the team was able to hold on to the lead for the remainder of the game to put three points toward its total.
